Commuting & moving

You have the option of applying for a separation allowance or a relocation allowance. Separation allowance is paid for expenses that you incur if you work at a location other than your previous place of employment and your home is neither in the same political municipality as the new place of employment nor in the catchment area. Your home may not be less than 30 kilometers from the new place of employment on a normally drivable route.
If you decide to move to Osnabrück, you can have your relocation costs reimbursed.
Separation allowance and relocation allowance are only paid upon written application. The Lower Saxony State Office for Pay and Pensions (NLBV) lists  frequently asked questions and answers about the separation allowance and relocation allowance on its website. Information and applications for the separation allowance and relocation allowance can be found at  IT.Niedersachsen.
