Job description
Osnabrück University trains electronics technicians for devices and systems in the electronics workshop of Department 6 Facility Management.
The electronics workshop is part of the Workshop Competence Center and supports the scientific working groups of Osnabrück University as well as the Facility Management with services in the fields of electronics, measurement and control technology, information and laser technology.
What do electronics technicians do?
Vocational training content:
- Planning and production of special devices for measuring, control and regulation tasks
- Development of analog and digital circuits
- Production and assembly of printed circuit boards
- Software development and microcontroller programming
- Conversion, modernization and repair of electronic devices
- Support in the selection of measuring devices, equipment, material procurement
All the necessary training content is taught in the training company. This includes the following topics:
- Vocational training, labor and collective bargaining law
- Structure and organization of the training company
- Occupational health and safety
- environmental protection
- Operational and technical communication
- Planning and organizing work, evaluating work results
- Installing and connecting electrical equipment
- Measuring and analyzing electrical functions and systems

How ist the vocational training structured?
The apprenticeship usually lasts 3.5 years and is divided into practical training periods and theoretical lessons at vocational school.
Vocational school lessons take place twice a week in the first year of training and once a week in the remaining years.
The examination consists of an intermediate examination in the second year of training and a final examination at the end of the training period. These are each divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The apprenticeship can be shortened by six months in the case of particularly good performance.
During the entire apprenticeship period, a report booklet must be kept in which the daily activities must be recorded.
What requirements do I need to fulfill?
Secondary school certificate or equivalent, good grades in mathematics and science subjects.
An interest in and enjoyment of electronics and technology.
