Allocation of study places to international prospective students
Undergraduate degree programs (Bachelor)
Study places for a first semester in undergraduate degree programs (e.g. Bachelor, First State Examination in Law) are allocated according to different procedures.
Applicants from non-EU/EEA countries:
For international applicants from non-EU/EEA countries, five percent of study places are available in undergraduate degree programs with admission restrictions. You can find an overview of admission-restricted degree programs on the Admission restrictions page.
Applicants from EU/EEA countries:
The same selection criteria apply to applicants from EU and EEA countries as to German applicants for undergraduate degree programs with admission restrictions.
After deducting the preliminary quotas, 80 percent of applicants for the first semester are selected according to the university's own selection procedure and 20 percent according to the waiting period.
You can find an overview of the degree programs with admission restrictions on the Admission restrictions page.
Master's degree programs
There are no differences between German and international applicants in the selection procedure for Master's degree programs. If the formal access requirements are met, a decision is made based on the applicant's academic qualifications.
There are also only a limited number of places available on some Master's degree programs.
All international applicants, including those from EU and EEA countries, with foreign certificates apply for Master's degree programs via uni-assist.
