DAAD Award
Every year, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awards a prize to international students enrolled at Osnabrück University and who stand out for their academic excellence and outstanding social and intercultural achievements in society. The DAAD prize is endowed with €1,000.
Award of the DAAD Prize
The DAAD prize is presented every year as part of the Germany Scholarship Award Ceremony in Osnabrück Castle. The next award ceremony is taking place on November 20, 2025. In 2024, the prize was awarded to the Chilean Master’s student Mariana Paulina Castillo Hermosilla in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements and her great intercultural commitment. Vice President for Studies and Teaching Prof. Dr. Jochen Oltmer praised the prizewinner as a "highly qualified student with an exciting CV who has an excellent track record and deserves every encouragement and recognition".
Eligibility and selection criteria
- International students and doctoral candidates who did not receive their university entry qualification from a German high school (Bildungsausländer*innen)
- Must be currently enrolled at Osnabrück University as a degree-seeking student (an application is possible up until three months after graduation)
- Demonstrated academic excellence
- Active social, societal or intercultural commitment
- At least fourth semester Bachelor's or second semester Master’s degree or Doctorate
Call for tenders and application 2025
The official call for applications for the DAAD Prize for 2025 will be published in April/May 2025. By then, you will find further information on the required application documents here. The application phase is expected to run from April/May until the beginning of / mid September 2025. The exact application deadline will be announced alongside the call for applications.
