Committees and commissions

The Senate can form committees and commissions to carry out its duties. Committees are advisory bodies made up exclusively of members of the Senate. Commissions are advisory bodies that may also include persons who are not members of the Senate. All status groups must be represented in commissions and committees.

The President chairs the Senate committees.

The other committees and commissions (apart from the Ombudsman's Committee and the Tenure Commission) each elect a chair from among their members.
