First Semester

The application, admission and enrollment procedure at Osnabrück University is generally handled electronically. Required documents must be uploaded to the university's  application portal in PDF format within the respective deadlines. We would like to point out at this point that Osnabrück University reserves the right to check uploaded documents at random and to request the original document or a verified document.

Please note: In some degree programs, proof of special access and admission requirements, such as language skills, is required for admission to your degree program. You should therefore familiarize yourself with the  information on special access and admission requirements.

 To the application portal HISinOne

If you have submitted your application within the above-mentioned  application period in the  Osnabrück University application portal and uploaded the application documents there, the staff in the Admissions Office of the University will check your application/documents for completeness, among other things.
Only if this check is positive overall will the relevant selection committee then decide whether you can generally be offered a place.

Admission for a study place in an admission-restricted Master's degree program (one subject)

If the decision of the selection committee is positive in the case of an application for a place on a Master's degree program with restricted admission (one subject), the selection committee will draw up a ranking list on the basis of which places will be allocated (main procedure). As soon as you have been admitted to a Master's degree program with restricted admission at Osnabrück University, you will be notified of this in the Osnabrück University  application portal as a status change ("admission offer available").

We recommend that you always keep an eye on the status of your application in the application portal. If you have given your consent, you will receive the formal letter of admission electronically via the Osnabrück University application portal. The application portal also contains information and notes on this. We strongly recommend that you not only keep an eye on the status of your application in the application portal and your inbox there, but also keep an eye on your e-mail inbox. To be on the safe side, always check your spam folder.

Applicants who cannot be admitted due to their rank will receive a rejection letter stating their own rank and the rank of the last applicant to be admitted (marginal rank). If not all study places have been allocated by the end of the main procedure, those ranked next in line will be admitted as part of a succession procedure.
Important to know:
Only those who expressly declare their participation in the succession procedure in the application portal will take part in the succession procedure.

Admission for a study place in an admission-free Master's degree program (one subject)

If the decision of the selection committee is positive in the case of an application for a place in an admission-free Master's degree program (one subject), this will be displayed in the  application portal of Osnabrück University as a status change ("admission offer available").

If your application has reached the status "offer of admission has been made" and you wish to accept the place, this is also done exclusively electronically via the  Osnabrück University application portal. You no longer need to submit any documents by post, but must upload them to the application portal in PDF format within the acceptance and enrollment deadline set in the letter of admission. Osnabrück University reserves the right to randomly check uploaded documents and to request the original document or a verified document.

Don't forget to actually accept the place via the portal!

Once you have accepted the place, completed the enrollment application and uploaded the required documents, the information and documents you have provided will be checked for completeness. You will only be enrolled and notified of this as a status change ("Enrolled") if this check is also positive overall.

You will then receive a welcome letter via the Osnabrück University portal with further information and instructions for your studies, including how to set up your access to myuos.uni-osnabrueck.de, how to re-register for the next semester and how to use your e-mail address and Campuscard. Please make sure that you complete setting up your access within 14 days of receiving the welcome letter.

You can find all information on enrolment in the  enrolment regulations (PDF, 461 kB).

You can also find out about the  costs of studying.

Higher semester

Places in a higher semester can only be allocated within the scope of available capacity. The decisive factor here is whether the places to be made available in accordance with the current Admission Regulations are (still) occupied in the higher semester.

Please note that in the case of a valid application, you can only be enrolled in the requested higher semester if your already completed Bachelor's degree allows you access to the desired Master's degree program (a subject) according to the admission regulations, the office responsible for you issues a corresponding placement recommendation and you meet any other access requirements that may be required. Information on where you can obtain the placement recommendation will be provided in the letter of admission - the placement recommendation is therefore not yet necessary for the application.

Here you will find further  information on the procedure for admission to a higher semester and the placement recommendation/credit transfer of academic achievements as well as the relevant forms.

Urgent recommendation!
Before transferring to Osnabrück University, please  contact the respective academic advisors/deans of studies to clarify which achievements can be credited and whether practical entry into the higher semester is possible without any problems or loss of time.
