Short-term Study as a Freemover for International Students

Would you like to attend Osnabrück University for only one to a maximum of two semesters and not complete a degree here? Then you can apply for a short-term study program as a freemover.
Students from foreign universities who would like to study at Osnabrück University for up to two semesters outside of a partnership program can apply for the short-term study program.
The short-term study program does not entitle you to take the final examination at Osnabrück University and obtain a university degree. However, within the framework of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), you can earn credits that may be recognized abroad and be transferred to a regular degree program.

Special regulations apply to exchange students from partner universities. Please refer to our pages for  exchange students for more information.

Entrance requirements

For a short-term study program, you must meet the regular  entrance requirements:

  • Certificate that entitles you to study at a German university
  • Proof of German language proficiency at level B2 (e.g. DSH1, Telc B2, TestDaF 12 points, etc.)
Please note that the language certificate must not be older than two years.
  • If applicable, knowledge of English language proficiency and, for certain degree programs, knowledge of other foreign languages
Further information can be found in the relevant admission regulations.
  • If applicable, proof of  artistic aptitude
