Undergraduate degree programs only start in winter semesters. It is not possible to apply for the first semester in summer semesters.

The association uni-assist e.V. is used by around 170 German universities and specializes in the preliminary examination of international applications. The central task of the association is to check international educational certificates with regard to their equivalence to the German education system. In addition, uni-assist e.V. checks specific entrance requirements (e.g. language skills) of the universities. Thanks to many years of practical experience and the processing of numerous applications, uni-assist e.V. has developed extensive expertise in this area. The final examination of the content and the final selection decision as to who is offered a study place, takes place at the university itself.

Osnabrück University only admits students to undergraduate degree programs in winter semesters. Students are therefore admitted to higher semesters in the winter semester for odd-numbered semesters (e.g. third or fifth semester) and in the summer semester for even-numbered semesters (e.g. second or fourth semester). Further information on the application procedure can be found on the page for the  allocation of study places.

International applications
International students who are already studying at a foreign university cannot apply for a higher semester, but only for a first semester. Only after admission and enrollment at Osnabrück University, students can apply for placement in a higher semester at  the responsible examination committee.

Osnabrück University does not always recognize credits earned abroad. Only the responsible examination committee of the schools can decide on the recognition of academic achievements and possibly place students in a higher semester. Please note that it is only possible to assess classes taken abroad once students are already enrolled at Osnabrück University.

Are you already studying in Germany?
If you are already enrolled at a German university, you can apply for a higher semester at Osnabrück University in the same degree program. A certificate of enrollment must be uploaded with the application documents, which provides information about the degree program/subjects, the desired degree and the number of semesters. If credits from another degree program are to be credited, a corresponding application must be submitted to the relevant examination board. The  Admissions Office will provide information on this.
