International Short-Term Programs

Welcome to Osnabrück University’s International Short-Term Programs! Our team organizes a variety of annual programs that allow students and professionals from around the globe to travel to Osnabrück and engage in cutting-edge research, language learning as well as social and cultural activities, for example as part of one of our International Summer Schools.

We currently offer International Summer Schools, International Spring Schools, and International Winter Schools.

I absolutely loved the cultural experience I had in Osnabrück. I enjoyed interacting with my IFT partner – my buddy took me to places that he enjoyed/liked so I got a unique experience as to how a German student lives who is my age. The language course was really fun and I loved the multiple ways we learned German.

The friendly team behind the program, the broad range of activities to chose from, and an amazing teaching team. The program has exceeded all my expectations, something which I am very grateful for.

International Spring School

Every year in May, Osnabrück University hosts 25 Honors College students from the University of South Florida to engage in an International Spring School on German History and Culture for the duration of three weeks. As part of the program, students engage in classroom and cultural activities suited for improving both their German language proficiency as well as their understanding of German History and Culture, and the various intersections between the three. The program is tightly coordinated with professors and coordinators from the University of South Florida and participating students are prepared for the Spring School at their home university in the preceding term.

As with the Summer School program, we strive to make the experience hassle-free, enriching, and diverse for all participating students. As such, we offer multiple excursions to a variety of German cities (e.g. Dresden, Weimar, Berlin, Hamburg) as well as visits to memorials, museums, art galleries, theaters, and more during their stay. All administrative concerns – be it accommodation, transfer, or transportation in and around Osnabrück – are taken care of on our end so that our partners can enjoy the academic and cultural program without distraction.

International Winter Schools

After years of experience with Short-Term Programs, we decided to extend our program portfolio and, for the first time, offer International Winter Schools!

Our inceptive open application winter program will be centered around German culture and traditions during winter and Christmas time. It combines classroom instruction with projects and activities: from cooking and baking, to visiting Christmas markets, to learning about wintertime traditions. For further program details, see the website of the International Winter Schools!
