Intercultural dialogue is a way of life at Osnabrück University’s Language Center!

At the Language Center, students and staff members from all academic departments and organizational units at Osnabrück University can acquire intercultural communication skills in more than 15 different  foreign languages.

We promote personal contact and interactions between students from all over the world through activities such as the Language Café or our Language Exchange Program, and we support our students’ international mobility by offering the necessary language proficiency tests.

Moreover, we offer international students a wide range of support options for acquiring  German language skills. In our German as a Foreign Language program, both beginners and advanced learners will surely find the right courses for their proficiency levels. Our  LWW Program caters to German Studies majors from our Chinese partner universities, who hone their knowledge of German language and literature over two semesters in tailored-made lectures and seminars. And our various short-term programs provide a glimpse into German culture and language, or a point of departure for a stint abroad at Osnabrück University.

And last but not least, we bolster our students’ efforts in refining their academic language skills. Students of all departments - whether natural or social sciences, the arts or humanities - can find subject-specific courses in  English for Academic Purposes in our semester program. In addition, our Writing Center offers expert advice as well as peer-support for all writing projects through individual consultations and a variety of workshops related to academic writing in German and English.
