What functions does the Campuscard fulfill?

The Campuscard fulfills the following functions:

  • Student ID card
  • Library card
  • Wallet for the library and cafeterias
  • Printing and copying function
  • Locking function for library lockers

The Campuscard is the property of Osnabrück University and must be returned at the end of your studies.

When is the Campuscard valid?

In order to be able to use the Campuscard as a student ID, you must validate the card after you have successfully re-registered (transfer of the semester fee). Technically, this means that a corresponding validity imprint is applied to the Campuscard. You must carry out this process yourself each semester.
You will find the validation machines in StudiOS ( Building 19), in the libraries in Alte Münze ( Building 10) and Westerberg ( Building 96) as well as in the Law and Economics Library, which is also open on Sundays ( Building 21/22).

How do I get a Campuscard?

For enrollment:

  • After enrollment, upload a photo similar to a passport photo on  myRZ Self Service (there you will also find information on the characteristics of the photo and help for uploading).
  • The card will be issued for the first time at the Info-Point in StudiOS (Neuer Graben 27, 49074 Osnabrück). Please note the  opening hours and that you must have uploaded a suitable image at least three working days in advance.
  • The first issue of the card is free of charge.

During your studies (second issue):

  • Upload a passport-style photo on  myRZ Self Service (there you will also find information on the properties of the photo and help with uploading).
  • The CampusCard can be reissued at the Info-Point in StudiOS (Neuer Graben 27, 49074 Osnabrück). Please note the  opening hours. The card will be printed for you on site.
  • In case of loss, please bring an official ID or, if you want to collect the card for another person, a signed power of attorney.
  • Bent or damaged cards will be replaced for a fee of €15.00 (you can only pay by debit card or credit card at the Info Point; to pay in cash, you must go to the Alte Münze Library in advance and then hand in the payment slip at the Info Point).
  • If there is still credit on your CampusCard, you can apply for a refund on the website of  Assosication for Student Affairs under "Application for payment" (the serial number required for this can be found on the card and can be found by the staff at the Info Point).

What data is saved on the Campuscard?

The following information is saved or printed on the Campuscard:

Visible data:

  • Designation "Student ID card"
  • Lastname, First name
  • Passport photo
  • Student number
  • Valid semester
  • Library card number
  • Barcode

Electronically readable data:

  • Card serial number
  • Status (student)
  • Card owner ID
  • Period of validity
  • Wallet
  • Library card number

All electronic data is encrypted using a Mifare DESfire card (Campuscard) (AES encryption with 128-bit key length) and thus stored securely according to the state of the art.

What does the Campuscard cost?

The first issue of the Campuscard is free of charge. Please note, however, that in the event of loss or damage, a fee of €15.00 will be charged for the issue of a duplicate.

I am a student and a research assistant at the same time. Do I also get a Campuscard?

Yes, if you are enrolled as a student at the university, you will also receive a Campuscard with the corresponding "student" status.

Do I get a new Campuscard every semester?

No, you will keep your Campuscard for the duration of your studies at Osnabrück University. In order to note the validity for the respective semester on the Campuscard, you must validate the card yourself after successful re-registration. You will find the validation machines in StudiOS ( Building 19), in the libraries in the Alte Münze ( Building 10) and at Westerberg ( Building 96) as well as in the Law and Economics Library, which is also open on Sundays ( Building 21/22).

What happens if I lose my Campuscard?

If you lose your Campuscard, please contact the Info-Point immediately.

You will need to upload a new photo for the card to be re-issued. A fee of €15 will be charged, which you can pay by debit card at the Info Point. The card will then be produced immediately.

If you do not have a debit card, you can pay the fee at the University Library. Please contact the library staff at the information desk (Mon.-Fri. 9.00 am to 6.00 pm). Payment is only possible if you bring €15 in bills. Cash can not be changed at the library. You will receive your new Campuscard upon presentation of the receipt at the Info-Point.

What are the advantages of the Campuscard?

With the Campuscard, you only have one card with which you can make cashless payments in the cafeterias and libraries. In addition, the Campuscard also serves as a library card as well as a printing and copying card, so you do not need any other cards. The Campuscard therefore combines all the functions you need for everyday university life.

How can I load money onto my Campuscard?

You can reload your Campuscard in the cafeterias and libraries using the vending machines where you can make cash deposits or debit card payments. For security reasons, the amount is limited to €75 per card.

How do I activate my Campuscard as a library card?

The Campuscard must be activated before it can be used as a library card for the first time. This can be done in all four departmental libraries of the university. A fee of €5 is charged for the initial activation. Students who already have an old library card can activate the Campuscard without additional fees. To do this, present your Campuscard and the old library card which will be kept.

How do I use the Campuscard for the library lockers?

To use a locker, hold your Campuscard in front of the lock and push the lock inwards with light pressure. The locker is opened in the same way.

Please note: The lockers are only available until the respective library closes. Please empty your locker by then. Lockers that are occupied after the library closes will be opened and emptied by library staff.

Do I have to use the Campuscard?

Yes, the Campuscard is a mandatory student ID card for all students at the university. You can find more information on this and all other applicable regulations regarding the Campuscard in the corresponding  regulations.

Please handle your Campuscard with care. The card must not be bent or damaged.

If the validity imprint has faded, you can validate your card again during the semester to ensure problem-free use.
