Maps and Arrival

Osnabrück is well located and has excellent transportation links. The city lies at the junction of the Berlin-Amsterdam and Cologne-Hamburg railway lines, and the city center is only a 15-minute walk from Osnabrück’s Central Station. Osnabrück can be reached by car via the A1, A30 and A33 motorways. The closest airports are Münster/Osnabrück, Dortmund, Bremen and Hannover. For more information on how to get to the city, see  Travelling to Osnabrück.

Getting around by bike?

Every day, around 1,750 employees and 14,000 students commute between their homes and campus. Since many of them cycle to university, we have put together a map with different routes.

Getting to us

Osnabrück has excellent transportation links. Nearby international airports include  Münster/Osnabrück,  Dortmund,  Bremen,  Düsseldorf,  Hannover and  Hamburg.  Berlin,  Frankfurt am Main and  Amsterdam (Schipol) are practical and cost-effective alternatives due to the large number of connections available.

Deutsche Bahn trains run regularly from these airports to Osnabrück. However, you will first need to travel from the airport to the respective central station (by S-Bahn, cab, etc.). In Frankfurt, there is a long-distance train station directly below the airport. You can either buy your train ticket online / in the DB App before departure or directly at one of the DB Travel Centers at the respective train station. Please note that tickets for long-distance travel with Deutsche Bahn are only valid for the train connection you selected. Tickets for regional trains, on the other hand, can be used flexibly within a limited time window.

An inexpensive alternative for traveling to Osnabrück is also offered by the well-developed German and European long-distance bus network, such as that operated by  Flixbus. The bus station for this network is located at Eisenbahnstraße, 49074 Osnabrück.

To get around Osnabrück, you can use the bus network of the  Verkehrsgemeinschaft Osnabrück.
