How is the vocational training structured?
The apprenticeship lasts 3 years. Alternatively, it is possible to have a voluntary year already completed at the vocational school for wood technology in full-time school form credited as the first year of training.
A weekly report book with drawings must be kept. The training is supported by inter-company courses at the Handwerkskammer Osnabrück (wood joining courses, machine and surface treatment courses). The journeyman's examination is divided into a theoretical and a practical part.
A journeyman's piece is to be produced in the company and a work sample in the vocational school. The work sample is specified by the examination board; the journeyman's piece can be determined by the trainee himself according to the examination criteria of the Handwerkskammer Osnabrück.
What requirements do I need to fulfill?
Good grades in math, crafts and German are desirable.
What other support measures are available?
The Chamber of Crafts offers further training opportunities, e.g. e.g. master craftsman school or business studies.
