Lena Lorenz, M.A. (she/her)

I have been a part of the team at the Equal Opportunity Office since 2022. My work here focuses on the topics of diversity, anti-discrimination and family justice. Thanks to this wide range of topics and the variety of tasks I perform, I get to learn something new every day and have the opportunity to constantly reflect on and expand my view of the world. This also includes examining my own position and reflecting on my own privileges.

My background is in public health sciences and diversity studies. During my studies, I learnt about social inequality, mechanisms of discrimination and privilege as well as intersectional entanglements of social categorizations and power relations. I was able to apply the knowledge I acquired during my studies early on as a caregiver for children with support needs and as a student assistant in health promotion and in (higher education) equality and diversity work. These experiences are still very valuable to me today and have sparked my interest in anti-discrimination and equality work. 

I am very grateful to have found my way to the Equal Opportunity Office and to be a member of Osnabrück University, where my work gives me the opportunity to help make the university a place where everyone can study, work and research under equitable conditions.
