Jennifer Wagner, M.Sc. (she/her)

Over 10 years ago, when I first set foot on the campus of Osnabrück University in order to pursue a degree in Cognitive Science, I certainly didn't expect joining the Equal Opportunity Office in the future. Back then, I didn't even have a good idea of what Equal Opportunity Representatives and employees in the field even do. Over the course of my studies, however, this changed as I encountered issues of (gender) equality in a wide variety of places: in my jobs as student assistant, when looking through the required reading lists in many a seminar, and also in making my own experiences with everyday sexism and discrimination on campus.

As a result, my desire to actively contribute to a more equitable university grew. I became involved in the Student Council and the AStA, where I held office for two years in the Department for Social Matters, Equality and Inclusion. Among other things, I had a counselling role there and organized a lecture series on diversity in the student body with my fellow student representatives. I was then elected as a substitute for the decentralized equal opportunity representative at the Institute of Cognitive Science and was thus able to continue my equal opportunity efforts.

I am very happy that my current role as member of the Equal Opportunity Office allows me to participate in the development of policies and structural measures for a sustainable increase in equality of opportunity at our university. However, it is just as important to me that I can offer support on an individual level. So please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or comments!
