Educational and Cultural Studies
During the early planning phase of the university, a plan was put forward for the establishment of a university with a focus on educational science. Evolving in part as it did from a Pedagogical University has always placed particular focus on teacher training and the educational sciences. From 1988 onwards, the duplex house at Heger-Tor-Wall 9 was used by the Department of Educational and Cultural Sciences.
Originally, it consisted of two buildings, as can still be discerned upon closer inspection: the former administrative buildings of the Evangelical Lutheran Association Osnabrück and the district administration were merged into one building during the renovation and expansion works of 1987/1988. As part of these works, the original gap between the single-story buildings was closed. The connecting section, recognizable by its distinctive door design, now served as the entrance and staircase for the new building.
