Short vita Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl
Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl studied Biology, Education and English at the Universities of Münster, Dakar (Senegal) and the College of William and Mary (U.S.A.) from 1996 to 2002 as a Teacher Education and Magister student. From 2004 to 2007, she was a research assistant in the Department of Biology Didactics at the Georg-August University of Göttingen (Doctorate 2007), then a postgraduate fellow in the DFG Research Training Group "Passungsverhältnisse schulischen Lernens".
In 2008, she came to Osnabrück as a junior professor and was appointed Professor of Biology Didactics following rejections in Giessen and Cologne. Since October 1, 2016, she has been part-time Vice President for Research and Early Career Development at Osnabrück University and played a key role in the UOS 2020 institutional strategy.
Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl has been the President of Osnabrück University since October 1, 2019.
On November 7, 2022, she was elected as the new Chair of the Lower Saxony State University Conference.
Since December 2023, she has also been Vice President for Higher Education System and Organization of the German Rectors' Conference.
