Institutional Research
The Institutional Research (IR) provides information management (storage, processing and distribution) as an essential contribution to the university's internal Quality Assurance.
Information requirements from both central and decentralized departments are met, in particular to support management and planning processes.
External recipients of information are politicians (primarily the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (only in German)), public authorities (primarily the Lower Saxony State Office for Statistics (only in german)) and the general public (primarily prospective students and (junior) academics).
Specific activities of strategic controlling include
- the preparation and communication of student and examination statistics (e.g. applications, enrolments, graduations),
- the annual admission capacity calculation in the context of degree program planning and special conditions of university autonomy,
- coordinating the university's participation in national and international university rankings such as the CHE ranking,
- the university's internal cost accounting,
- the university's contribution to university financial statistics,
- the establishment of a research information system (only in German) and
- support for transfer activities (only in German).
