Osnabrück German Studies is concerned with German literature, language and culture in a European context. It is regarded as a combination of three sub-disciplines: Modern German Literature, Older German Literature in conjunction with Early Modern Literature and German Linguistics.

Osnabrück German Studies is concerned with German literature, language and culture in a European context. It is regarded as a combination of three sub-subjects: Modern German Literature, Older German Literature in conjunction with Early Modern Literature and German Linguistics. From the third semester onwards, students can specialize - two of the three sub-subjects on offer are selected. An interdisciplinary exchange with other subjects is planned.

The course prepares students for careers and fields of activity in publishing, archives, libraries, museums, editorial offices, feature pages, adult education, academic organizations, politics (academic speakers) and management consultancy.

Regulations

Every degree has sets of regulations which govern access, admissions, examinations and the structure of the program. More concrete information on the structure of the program is provided here:

The access requirements for the course are a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in German Studies with a German Studies component of at least 63 credit points. Further information on the access requirements can be found in the  admission regulations.

Applicants in possession of international certification must demonstrate sufficient levels of  German Language Proficiency.

This program is not subject to admission restrictions.

The examination regulations do not prescribe an obligatory period of study abroad. However, a number of  Options for Studying Abroad are available to you within a range of exchange programs. The  International Office will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Studying at Osnabrück University means you will be subject to semester fees. Depending on how much of your study credit (standard period of study plus tolerance semester) you have used up, you may also have to pay long-term study fees.
