Doctoral Awards Ceremony

Jointly with the City of Osnabrück, the University congratulates its doctoral graduates on successfully completing their doctoral thesis in the Schlossaula at Osnabrück University and the Friedenssaal in the town hall.

Save the Date:The next Doctoral Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday June 4, 2025!

A day of honor for our doctoral graduates: With the central Doctoral Awards Ceremony, Osnabrück University and the City of Osnabrück honor them in the company of their families, friends and academic supervisors!

A successfully completed doctoral thesis bears witness to outstanding academic research work. At the same time, it stands for discipline, perseverance and remarkable project and time management on the part of its author.

This outstanding academic and personal achievement will be honored with a ceremony at Osnabrück Castle. This will be followed by a joint walk through the city center to the town hall. There, in the Friedenssaal, Lord Mayor Katharina Pötter receives the graduates. Finally, the ceremony ends with champagne and conversation.

If the date of your Doctorate is between June 2024 and June 2025, you are cordially invited together with family and friends! The registration information is expected to be available at the end of april 2025.

Welcome Ceremony for Students in the First Semester

Prize for Outstanding Academic Teaching

The university awards three Hans Mühlenhoff Prizes for outstanding academic teaching. A special aspect is that students nominate their favorites among the teaching staff themselves.
