Professional Skills Development Office
Workshops, training and advice on
key skills, tutorial work and mentoring
The Professional Skills Development Office (KoPro) is the point of contact for all subjects and schools at Osnabrück University for questions relating to the teaching of key skills. It advises and supports the subjects in designing the content of their courses in this area and in carrying out (re-)accreditation procedures for degree courses. At the same time, KoPro advises students on the acquisition of key competencies for successful studies and also offers workshops itself.
Specifically for the dual-subject Bachelor's degree programme, KoPro compiles the range of courses for the interdisciplinary part of the key competencies and advises all dual-subject Bachelor's students who are not aiming for a Teacher Education degree on the achievements to be made in the so-called professional skills development area (4 Steps+ model).
In addition, KoPro is responsible for various programs and projects in the area of tutoring and mentoring. In addition to various qualification programs for tutors, which are used in the field of teaching, among other things, all teachers have the opportunity to also qualify in order to be able to prepare and accompany tutors in their respective subject contexts.
The OSKA+ program (OSnabrücker Kommiliton:innen für StudienAnfänger:innen) comprises various offers within the introductory phase of studies, such as first semester tutoring during the introductory week, subsequent mentoring and peer learning formats that facilitate the individual start to studies.
In the Balu und Du mentoring program, students from all schools can acquire a wide range of skills in mentoring primary school children.
