In a cooperation that is unique in Lower Saxony, Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and Osnabrück University jointly offer a Bachelor's and Master's degree course in the field of vocational education.

The course is organized in stages. It begins with the Bachelor's degree course in Vocational Education. Initially, the mathematical, scientific and technical fundamentals of Metals Engineering are taught at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. In the fourth and fifth semesters, the focus is on didactic principles.

The Master's degree course "Vocational Teacher Education" can then be completed. The vocational subject Metals Engineering can be studied in combination with a general education subject (Chemistry, German, English, Protestant Religion, Computer Science, Islamic Religion, Catholic Religion, Mathematics, Physics, Spanish or Sport) as well as Vocational and Business Education.

The Master of Education qualifies you to enter the period of school-based training called the Referendariat and subsequently for a career as a school teacher.

A course of study in Vocational Teacher Education is divided into several stages. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Education, you are required to take a Master in Vocational Education, for which you have to (re)apply. You are required to combine a vocational specialization with a general education subject. Information about possible combinations, the content of the program and general program schedules can be accessed at   Vocational Teacher Education.
