In the field of vocational education, Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and Osnabrück University jointly offer a Bachelor's and Master's degree course in Information Technology.

At the beginning of the course, students are taught the mathematical, scientific and technical basics of information technology at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. These are supplemented in the fourth and fifth semesters with subject-specific didactic skills. The subsequent Master's degree course offers in-depth modules on technology as well as didactics.

The course is organized in stages. It begins with the Bachelor's degree course in Vocational Education. This can be followed by the Master's degree course "Vocational Teacher Education", for which a new application is required. The vocational subject of information technology must be studied in combination with a general education subject (chemistry, German, English, Protestant religion, computer science, Islamic religion, Catholic religion, mathematics, physics, Spanish or sport) as well as vocational and business education.

The Master of Education qualifies you to enter the period of school-based training called the Referendariat and subsequently for a career as a school teacher.

A course of study in Vocational Teacher Education is divided into several stages. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Education, you are required to take a Master in Vocational Education, for which you have to (re)apply. The Master of Education degree is a prerequisite for admission to the period of school-based training called the Referendariat.

You are required to combine a vocational specialization with a general education subject. Information about possible combinations, the content of the program and general program schedules can be accessed at   Vocational Teacher Education.
