German - Vocational Teacher Education
Bachelor of Vocational Education + Master of Vocational Education
Students studying towards a degree in Vocational Teacher Education will first study the six-semester-long degree program Bachelor of Vocational Education. You are required to combine a vocational specialization with a general education subject. Subsequently, you have to take the four-semester-long degree program Master of Vocational Education in the same subjects, for which you must (re)apply. The Master of Education degree is a prerequisite for admission to the period of school-based training called the Referendariat.
German studies as a discipline of the humanities researches, documents and communicates the German language and literature in its historical and contemporary manifestations. Modern German studies is regarded as a combination of two sub-subjects, linguistics and modern German literature. In addition to these academic components, the course also includes German didactics.

Master of Education (M.Ed.)
German studies as a discipline of the humanities researches, documents and communicates the German language and literature in its historical and contemporary manifestations. Modern German studies is regarded as a combination of two sub-subjects, linguistics and modern German literature.
At Osnabrück University, the subject is divided into the areas of literature and linguistics and covers the entire spectrum of German literature and language. Focal points include epochs of German literature and genre theory, literature for children and young people, text interpretation, grammatical structures of German, orthography, first and second language acquisition, and the teaching of this subject content at vocational schools in the field of didactics of German.
A course of study in Vocational Teacher Education is divided into several stages. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Education, you are required to take a Master in Vocational Education, for which you have to (re)apply. The Master of Education degree is a prerequisite for admission to the period of school-based training called the Referendariat.

Bachelor of Vocational Education
The German Higher Education Entrance Qualification (Abitur) entitles students to commence a first degree qualification at Osnabrück University. The term “first degree qualification” refers to a period of study that culminates in a student’s first professionally-relevant university degree (Bachelor’s degree or First Legal State Examination). This program is not subject to admission restrictions.
Master of Education
To apply for the Master's degree program Vocational Teacher Education, you must have a qualified Bachelor's degree in Vocational Education. Further information can be found in the admission regulations for the Master's degree course.

Bachelor of Education and Teaching
German and international applicants with German certification can enroll directly for this subject that does not have admission restrictions. You can find all information on enrollment and the enrollment deadline for the desired semester under Bachelor's degree programs (two subjects) - open admission.
Important: If one of the subjects in your chosen subject combination has admission restrictions and you are therefore obliged to submit an application for it, you must also enroll for the subject that does not have admission restrictions within the Application Deadline for the subject that does have admission restrictions!

The examination regulations do not prescribe an obligatory period of study abroad. However, a number of Options for Studying Abroad are available to you within a range of exchange programs. The International Office will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Studying at Osnabrück University means you will be subject to semester fees. Depending on how much of your study credit (standard period of study plus tolerance semester) you have used up, you may also have to pay long-term study fees.
