By the end of the year 2024 : Touring exhibition "Knowledge_creates life"

Entertaining, amazing and unknown facts: the exhibition offered an insight into the university's own history on 16 steles – including brief anecdotes.

Thursday, April 11, at 5pm : Official celebration

We looked back on the history and ahead to the future of our young university - musically framed by our symphony orchestra and accompanied by ZDF presenter and alumna Maja Weber.

Thursday, April 18, 4pm : Guided tour "Between tradition and modernity"

A reform university in a baroque castle: The participants learned interesting facts on the utilisation and art history of Osnabrück Castle through the ages.

Saturday, May 11, from 4pm : Uni meets May Week!

We are not alone in celebrating our 50th anniversary: The May Week also turned 50! We were invited to celebrate our birthday with an own program on the stage at the town hall!

Friday, 31 May, at 4pm : Guided tour "The desert lives"

Knowledge in a double pack: The participants found out a lot about student life in the "Wüste" (desert) neighbourhood and its rich flora and fauna!

Anniversary ball! A particularly glittering evening awaited us to mark the university's 50th birthday!

Saturday, June 29, 7:30pm : 50 years of Osnabrück University: An anniversary playlist!

What music have students been listening to since 1974 while dancing, on their way to university, writing term papers, at flat share parties or at live concerts? The Unipopchor answered this question in the Schlossaula with a personal playlist of pop music from the last 50 years!

Thursday, August 29, from 4pm : Summer Party for University Staff

The Botanical Garden marks its 40th anniversary! All the more reason to enjoy our staff party there this year!

May, 1 to October, 6 : Exhibition "Science for a future worth living"

Topical research in the Department of Biology/Chemistry: How can light energy be converted into chemical energy with the help of metal complexes? How do plants adapt to different environmental conditions? And what can we learn from mice about depression? Poster exhibition in the Botanical Garden!

Making research and science accessible to the general public: Thank you for your interest!

Until November : Osnabrück Peace Forum in the anniversary year

The Osnabrück Peace Forum accompanied the anniversary with a focus on the importance of independent research and science.

November & December : Public Lecture Series “Health - Learning and Teaching”

To mark the 50th anniversary of Osnabrück University, the Institute for Health Research and Education (IGB) at Osnabrück University dedicated itself to the central theme of “Health - Learning and Teaching”.
