Study internationally
The internationalisation of research and teaching in particular is one of the central goals of Osnabrück University. Projects to systematise and professionalise internationalisation efforts at the university are summarised in the UOS 2020 Institutional Strategy.
International research
The international integration of research work is diverse. There are bilateral and multilateral collaborations with numerous foreign academic institutions. Third-party funded projects are collected in a university database.
In addition, all institutes supervise foreign doctoral students who are sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) or other external and foreign sources. The number of foreign postdocs has also increased in recent years. The latter are also active in teaching, thus increasing the number of courses taught in English.
International teaching
The Department of Mathematics/Computer Science at Osnabrück University offers courses in mathematics and didactics of mathematics, computer science, geoinformatics and environmental systems science.
The descriptions of the modules in English as well as the names and e-mail addresses of the respective programme coordinators can be found here:

Computer Science (PDF, 91 kB) | Markus Chimani |
Geoinformatics (PDF, 30 kB) | Thomas Jarmer |
Environmental Systems Science (PDF, 260 kB) | Jörg Klasmeier |
Courses in English at Osnabrück University can be found on the Degree Programmes page.
Study and internships abroad
Students of all subjects have the opportunity to take part in study programmes abroad. This also includes internships. Exchange programmes such as ERASMUS+ from the European Union, scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service ( DAAD) or the Fulbright Foundation are helpful here. In addition, applications for funding from the Programme to Increase the Mobility of German Students (PROMOS, funded by the DAAD) and for mobility grants can be submitted to the University's International Office.
ERASMUS+ partner universities and universities outside the ERASMUS+ area can be found on the website of the International Office. Individual applications as so-called freemovers are also possible.
The website of the International Office is very informative. Detailed questions can be clarified there or in a personal meeting with the staff of the International Office or with the university's internationalisation officer. This is currently
Michael Gnewuch, Professor at the Institute of Mathematics. Please make an appointment in advance by e-mail.
