The Neuroinformatics research group (Prof. Dr. Gordon Pipa) of the Institute of Cognitive Science invites applications for a
Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(Salary level E 13 TV-L, 75 %)
to be filled as soon as possible for a period of 3 years.
Description of Responsibilities:
The position involves participation in the research activities of the Neuroinformatics group in the domain of computational neuroscience and neuromorphic computation including very strongly methods of machine learning. The core of the work will be the development of a model of dendritic computing on time series that will be implemented in cooperation with the Forschungszentrum Jülich on the basis of Memristic devices. The work will include simulation of dynamical systems, the use of these systems to process time series, the simulation of electronic circuits, as well as the design and analysis of machine learning tasks using these systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants are expected to have an excellent academic degree (Master/diploma) in the field of cognitive science or physics, combined with working experience in the field of computational neuroscience, and practical experience with neuromorphic hardware that is event driven
- Strong background in Computational Neuroscience, dynamical system models of spiking neurons combined with deep knowledge in machine learning for time series processing
- Strong programming skills in Python (incl. tensorflow and others) and expertise in artificial neural network modelling
- A good command of the English language is mandatory
