Presentation of current research results on MPL at IRMC 2024 in Milan
Prof. Grundke presented current research results from the MPL project at the International Risk Management Conference 2024 in Milan. In a theoretical model, he shows that MPL platforms have a particular advantage over established financial intermediaries when the default probabilities of the financed projects are relatively low and the number of lenders per financed project is small.
What do we want to achieve?
The aim of the Marketplace Lending research project is to develop a better understanding of how marketplace lending platforms can be used to promote socially desirable outcomes. Based on this, a catalog of design principles and recommendations for action will be developed.
The improved understanding can be used by platform operators to optimize the architecture of their platforms. It can also help policy makers in their efforts to regulate new financial technologies in a way that reduces risk without stifling innovation.
