Studying and living great

OSKA+

Your study entry phase at the University of Osnabrück

OSKA+: Your study entry phase at the University of Osnabrück

The OSKA+ program supports you in your individual start at the university and helps you to find your way through all the different and challenging parts of studying at a German university. The program includes various offers that you can take advantage of. OSKA stands for OSnabrücker Kommiliton*innen für Studien-Anfänger*innen (in English roughly “fellow students from Osnabrück supporting first-semester students”):

The introduction week at the University of Osnabrück

One week before lectures begin, your OSKA+ tutors will welcome you during the introduction week. There you will get to know your first fellow students, draw up your timetable for the first semester and get a few first insights into campus life. Depending on the subject you are studying, there are different offers that you can take advantage of. You can find an overview of the different schedules here:

First Semester Mentoring at the University of Osnabrück

From the beginning of lectures, OSKA+ mentors will individually support you in a small group through your first semester. You are completely new to Osnabrück? Are you worried that your studies might be too much? You couldn't take part in the welcome week at all or only part of it? You are the first person in your family to study? You are not sure about how studies are organized in Germany?
For all these questions you can get a personal contact person - an OSKA. Our OSKAs are experienced students who will be at your side throughout the first semester to help you with any questions you may have so that you can find your way through the jungle of university. In addition, your OSKA will help you get to know the campus and student life in a small group with other first-year students (mentees).

What is this program about?

  • You have questions about how to study in Osnabrück or in Germany in general?
  • You are worried about the start and want some peer support?
  • You are looking forward to have meetings in small groups with other students?
  • You want to get to know other students, the university and the city?

Strengthen your study skills in the second semester

In the second semester you will also have tutors who will offer you workshops in peer format with different focus points. The first exam phase didn't go as well as you expected? Do you still need help with studying or organising your studies? In the new semester, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of topics individually. You can register via Stud.IP during the semester break.
