On February 7, 2025, Science goes Public will present itself with a new concept: Under the motto "Knowledge to join in, have a say and take part”, the inspiring event in Osnabrück's Schlossaula will offer insights into scientific research and the opportunity to participate and join in the discussion.
In insightful short presentations, scientific questions are answered in just four minutes. And anyone who overruns will receive a red card - the trademark of Science goes Public. In addition, this year's event, organized in cooperation with Osnabrück University and the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspaper, has some new features. In terms of content, everything revolves around the highly topical subject of “Care”.
In view of the rising number of people in need of care in Osnabrück and dwindling care funds, the topic of ‘care’ is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Now you have decided and voted. You can look forward to the following questions, which will be answered by experts from Osnabrück University:
- Carers from Eastern Europe: An ethically viable path?
- Avoiding care: What helps?
- Nursing training: What are the effects of combining nursing training?
- Responsibility: What do I owe my parents or my partner?
But it's not just researchers from the university who will have their say: the new round table on the topic of ‘AI and robotics in care - is that what we want?’ is another highlight of the event. Experts from theory and practice will discuss, among other things, the use and acceptance of assistance systems in everyday life, as well as ethical concerns about their use.
Moderated by University President Prof. Dr. Susanne Menzel-Riedl and New Osnabrück Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Louisa Riepe, this will bring together academic and personal perspectives in an entertaining 30 minutes.
And the audience's opinion is also in demand: Vote, ask questions and comment! Via live poll you can react to the event . Was the question answered clearly or do you have a different opinion? Share your opinion during the event.
Science goes Public offers an exciting encounter with science and the opportunity to the opportunity to discuss to discuss a relevant topic .
